Daisy May Cooper showcased the results of a reported 10-stone weight loss on Sunday when she attended her son’s sixth birthday party in a figure-hugging catsuit, posting images from the event to her Instagram Story and thanking the performers who entertained the children.
The 38-year-old comedian, who has said she reduced her dress size from 24 to 10 over two years, posed with costumed guests including Spider-Man and Batman, alongside her partner Ant Huggins and their 15-month-old son, Benji. She wrote on Instagram: "Thank you so much to the Magical Character Company for the best surprise for Jack's birthday."
Cooper has described the weight loss as part of a health-focused campaign. She told the Daily Mail that she initially followed a ketogenic, ultra low-carbohydrate diet, but later said she "would not recommend it," and attributed complications including kidney stones to the regimen. In remarks to the BBC podcast How To Be In The Spotlight, she said that while she supports body positivity, she had been unhappy and struggling with a food addiction when she was at her heaviest.
The transformation has had professional consequences. Cooper said filming the second series of the BBC comedy Am I Being Unreasonable? — which is intended to pick up immediately after the first series — was delayed and complicated by her altered appearance. She told viewers on The Jonathan Ross Show that producers faced continuity issues after she lost significant weight and underwent lip filler treatment, and that she suggested a disclaimer at the start of the new series asking audiences "please don't judge." The surreal comedy follows two women whose lives take unexpected turns.
Cooper has also reported negative public responses to her changed appearance, saying she has been inundated with messages claiming she is "no longer funny" since losing weight and receiving cosmetic treatments. She voiced frustration at suggestions that a woman's comedic worth is linked to her body size.
Earlier this year the actor acknowledged having had cosmetic "tweakments," including fillers and Botox, and said she was advised to stop further procedures after her agent warned they could impair her ability to act. Cooper has described a period when fillers left her with a "horrible pillow face" and limited facial movement; she later paused anti-wrinkle injections. She has also said she consulted a surgeon about a possible tummy tuck but ultimately decided against surgery, noting concerns raised during the consultation.
Cooper, who split from actor Will Weston in 2021 and is the mother of two, has spoken repeatedly about balancing personal wellbeing, public scrutiny and professional work. Her experience reflects broader industry conversations about body image, continuity in television production and the impact of cosmetic procedures on performers' careers.
Am I Being Unreasonable? returned to screens three years after its debut; producers and the creative team have had to reconcile the physical changes of cast members with the show's narrative continuity. Cooper’s public account of the logistical and reputational challenges highlights how off-screen changes can influence on-screen storytelling and audience perception.
In media interviews she has emphasised that her choices were driven by health and happiness rather than external pressures. Cooper said she remains a proponent of body positivity while underlining that her own path involved managing a health issue and making personal decisions about appearance and wellbeing.
