Actress Daisy Edgar-Jones has detailed the physical challenges of portraying Elinor Dashwood in the new adaptation of Jane Austen's "Sense and Sensibility," revealing that the period corsets she wore were so constricting that they affected her ability to digest food.

Edgar-Jones described the process of dressing for the role, which involved not only layers of petticoats but also a tightly laced corset. "You have the petticoats and you’ve got the corset done up. And then I had to be sewn into my dress," she explained. This meticulous dressing procedure would take approximately 20 to 30 minutes.

"Whenever I was wearing my corset, I’d eat lunch and then I’d feel that my food sort of sat there," Edgar-Jones stated. She noted that the relief from this discomfort only came at the end of the day. "At the end of the day, I’d take my corset off and it would fall – I’d feel I would suddenly start digesting it."

The film, directed by Georgia Oakley, stars Edgar-Jones as Elinor Dashwood. Esmé Creed-Miles plays her sister Marianne, and Caitríona Balfe portrays Mrs. Dashwood. George MacKay and Frank Dillane are cast as Edward Ferrars and Mr. Willoughby, respectively. Rising star Bodhi Rae Breathnach also appears as the third Dashwood sister.

The adaptation follows the narrative of Austen's novel, focusing on the three Dashwood sisters and their mother, who are forced to relocate from their family estate, Norland Park, to a smaller cottage in Devon after their father's death. The story explores their experiences on the societal fringes and their encounters with new romantic interests.

In separate comments, Edgar-Jones recently recounted an experience meeting her teenage crush, actor Leonardo DiCaprio, at a nightclub afterparty. She had previously listed DiCaprio, along with Logan Lerman and Tumblr model Ash Stymest, as significant figures from her youth. While she met DiCaprio briefly, she reported remaining composed during the encounter.
