The Daily Mail has launched a new daily word puzzle called "Sandwich," challenging players to find a hidden word that fits between two given words.
Sandwich presents players with two words, stacked vertically, and the objective is to guess the word that would fall between them alphabetically in a dictionary. For example, if the provided words are CAT and SUN, the player must find a word that comes after CAT and before SUN.
Players have 10 attempts to guess the correct word. Each incorrect guess becomes a new "slice," narrowing the possible range for the correct answer. If a player exhausts their guesses, the game is over until the next day.
A new puzzle is released every day at midnight UK time, encouraging players to return to maintain their streaks and compare performance with friends.
The game is accessible through the Daily Mail's Games section on both its website and mobile application.
Tips from the Lead Games Designer suggest aiming to halve the gap between the known words with each guess by targeting the middle. Players are also advised to utilize the on-screen keyboard, which indicates available letters, to aid in strategic guessing. The designer noted that the target word will not be obscure, advising against overly complex word choices.
Sandwich joins over 20 other free-to-play games available in the Daily Mail's Games section, which aims to provide daily brain training activities. Other games in the section include Relink, Trace, Sudoku, and crosswords.
