A 21-year-old fan, Jacob Allmendinger, has had his life savings of approximately $13,300 reimbursed by an online crypto casino after fulfilling his grandfather's dream of attending the FIFA World Cup. Allmendinger used the funds, saved for five years for a home down payment, to travel with his 80-year-old grandfather, Geoff Golliker, to follow England's matches.
The pair journeyed to New York, Atlanta, and Mexico City, attending England's games against Panama, DR Congo, and Mexico. Their story gained significant attention online, leading to recognition from fans during their travels.
MetaWin, a U.S.-based online crypto casino, noticed their story and publicly pledged on social media to reimburse Allmendinger's trip expenses if England defeated the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The casino had previously made a similar offer contingent on England beating Panama by more than two goals, a condition that was not met.
Following England's 2-1 victory over DR Congo, MetaWin honored its promise. Allmendinger expressed his surprise and shock upon checking his bank account and finding the funds returned. He stated that the gesture was incredible and that he was amazed.
