Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and his long-time partner Georgina Rodríguez are reportedly set to marry this weekend in Funchal, Madeira, the island where Ronaldo was born. The couple, who have been together for nearly a decade and share five children, have chosen the opulent Savoy Palace hotel for their nuptials.
The five-star Savoy Palace in Funchal offers extensive amenities, including multiple swimming pools, a spa, panoramic views, and a range of dining options. The couple is believed to be staying in "The Reserve," a premium section of the hotel that features private spaces, a rooftop infinity pool, and a personal butler. Rooms in this exclusive area are reported to start at £1,100 per night.
Georgina Rodríguez is expected to walk down the aisle at Funchal Cathedral, a historic venue in the city center that can accommodate approximately 800 guests. Following the ceremony, the couple and their guests will proceed to the Savoy Palace, a short drive away.
The hotel itself boasts a grand entrance with a large metal chandelier and floral arrangements. Guests can enjoy the hotel's amenities, including an 18-meter swimming pool, a spa described as one of Europe's largest wellness sanctuaries, and a rooftop restaurant, Galáxia Seafood, offering 360-degree views of the island and ocean. The hotel also features a vibrant green bar with live piano music and a children's playroom.
Ronaldo, 41, and Rodríguez, 32, who have five children together – daughters Alana and Bella, and twins Eva Maria and Mateo, along with Ronaldo's eldest son Cristiano Jr – have ties to Madeira. Ronaldo has a significant presence on the island, with a statue in his honor, a hotel named after him, and his own museum, Museu CR7.
Ronaldo previously mentioned his intention to marry Rodríguez after the 2022 World Cup, expressing his love for her and stating it was the right time. He recalled proposing to her around 1 a.m. with the help of a friend and family.
Rodríguez, an influencer, met Ronaldo in 2016 when she worked at a Gucci store in Madrid. The couple relocated to Saudi Arabia in 2022 after Ronaldo signed with Al-Nassr.
