Former professional rugby player Danny Cipriani and his fiancée, actress Annalynne McCord, have launched a crowdfunding campaign to cover the costs of their wedding, a move that has drawn criticism and been described as "tacky and distasteful."
The couple, who became engaged last year, are requesting contributions from friends and family for various wedding expenses, including the marriage license, reception meal, flowers, and the wedding cake, through the Honeyfund platform. They aim to raise approximately £10,660, with individual donation suggestions ranging from £75 to £450. Separate cash donations are also an option.
An insider told The Sun that the request is "extremely tacky and distasteful" given the couple's public profile and "flash Hollywood lifestyle." Cipriani, 38, reportedly earned around £4 million during his rugby career, playing for teams such as Wasps, Sale Sharks, and Gloucester, and earning 16 caps for England. McCord, 39, is known for her roles in "Nip/Tuck" and "90210" and most recently appeared in "Days of Our Lives" in 2023, and is believed to have amassed a similar fortune.
Mccord and Cipriani first met on the dating app Raya about a decade ago. They dated intermittently for several years, split in 2020, and reconnected in 2024, though they reportedly separated again in January 2025. However, they appeared to reconcile in the summer of 2024, with Cipriani posting a public message to McCord on her birthday.
McCord's engagement ring is reportedly a 15-carat emerald-cut diamond. Cipriani was previously married to Victoria Rise, whom he met in 2019. They became engaged in January 2021 and married in April 2022. Rise filed for divorce in August 2024, alleging Cipriani spent £600 a month on drugs and that she felt blindsided by his announcement of their split on Instagram.
Cipriani has publicly admitted to past drug use, including cocaine and psychedelic mushrooms. He announced his split from Rise on Instagram days after leaving their shared home.
