Country music singer Hannah Dasher has shared an account of receiving an unsolicited and inappropriate direct message from a well-known, married celebrity. Dasher, 40, revealed the incident during an appearance on the "Like a Farmer" podcast.
While she withheld the identity of the individual, Dasher indicated that their level of fame and influence was significant enough that engaging with them "could have" potentially opened doors for her music career. However, she stated that her Christian faith played a role in her decision not to pursue any potential opportunities that might have arisen from the interaction.
Dasher did not specify the explicit nature of the message but described it as one of the "weirdest" she has encountered.
During the same podcast episode, Dasher also discussed her journey as an independent artist after losing her record deal with Sony Music Nashville several years ago. She explained that signing with Sony in 2021 led to the release of her debut EP, "The Half Record," but the company subsequently withdrew its support for her recording contract. Dasher characterized the experience as a significant and necessary moment of humility in her career.
She credited her faith and family for helping her overcome that period of adversity and resume songwriting. After a two-year hiatus from writing music to focus on her cookbook, "Stand By Your Pan," Dasher has recently returned to her music and hinted at upcoming releases.
Dasher began her music career after graduating from college and moving to Nashville. To support herself, she worked at Bass Pro Shops while pursuing her dream of becoming a country music star. She later signed with Sony and ATV Music Publishing in the early 2010s. Her co-written song, "Go to Bed Early," was recorded by Brad Paisley for his 2017 album "Love and War."
