Travis Kelce told comedian Andrew Santino months before he proposed to Taylor Swift, Santino said during an appearance on the Pardon My Take podcast, adding that he does not expect to be invited to the couple’s wedding.
"We had golf together in like April or May, and yeah, he said he was doing it," Santino said, describing a conversation in which Kelce disclosed his intention to pop the question but did not reveal timing. Santino said he later FaceTimed Kelce and Swift to congratulate them after the engagement became public.
Kelce and Swift announced their engagement last month, almost two years after they went public with their relationship. Santino, who has been friendly with Kelce for several years, said he "doubt[s]" he will receive a wedding invitation, suggesting Swift has final say over the guest list.
"You know she's controlling that guest list. I'm not on that list," Santino said. He added that he would welcome an invite to a bachelor party instead, saying, "You could do bachelor and not wedding. In fact, [I'd] prefer it. I'd rather do bachelor and no wedding. I don't want to do weddings in general anymore. So if you can give me the bachelor party without the wedding."
Santino and Kelce have traded podcast appearances and anecdotes. Kelce appeared on Santino's Whiskey Ginger podcast in 2019, and Santino later joined Kelce and his brother Jason on their New Heights podcast, where he recounted a wardrobe malfunction story. Santino also noted they have played golf together, including an appearance alongside Justin Timberlake at Timberlake's 8AM Golf Invitational in Las Vegas this year.
On Pardon My Take, Santino said he did not pry for details after Kelce told him of his plan, and that the NFL star "brought something up about it, and then I never asked again." He described calling to congratulate the couple once the engagement was publicly announced.
The engagement announcement prompted widespread public interest and speculation about the wedding, including who will attend and when it will take place. Santino's account is one of several anecdotes from friends and associates that have surfaced since the couple confirmed their plans. Media coverage of Kelce and Swift has tracked their relationship since they went public nearly two years ago and intensified following the engagement.
Santino's comments underscore how close friends and colleagues of public figures can be aware of major personal decisions well before the public announcement. He characterized his reaction as "stoked" for the couple and said he remains close to Kelce even if he does not expect to be part of the wedding guest list.
