Andrew Santino, a comedian and friend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, said he does not expect to be invited to the upcoming wedding between Kelce and Taylor Swift, telling hosts on the “Pardon My Take” podcast that he doubts he is on the guest list.
“I doubt it,” Santino said when asked whether he would attend the nuptials. “I mean, I highly doubt it, dude.” He added, “You know she’s controlling that guest list. I’m not on that list…Dude, Trav is my boy. I love him to death.” Santino, 41, described himself as one of Kelce’s later-in-life, or “adult,” friends and said many of Kelce’s childhood friends from Ohio will likely be included instead.
Santino also said Kelce, 35, had hinted at proposing months before the August announcement, telling him after a round of golf in April or May that he planned to do it. The couple revealed their engagement in a joint social media post Aug. 26, which noted the proposal had occurred about two weeks earlier. A Page Six source has said the pair plan to marry in Rhode Island next summer.
Kelce reportedly proposed in his Leawood, Kansas, backyard with an old mine brilliant-cut diamond that Page Six estimated could be worth as much as $1 million. Swift, 35, was reported by TMZ to have been seen supporting Kelce at the soft opening of his 1587 Prime Steakhouse in Kansas City this week.
On the podcast, Santino distinguished between friends who grew up with Kelce and those who met him later, saying the former group — often described as Kelce’s Ohio childhood friends — will be among those invited. “He’s got a lot of dogs from Ohio that he’s loyal to … they grew up with him and everything,” Santino said. “I’m an adult friend. Adult friends are different. We met later in life and I’m sure when they’re going down the list, she’ll get to Santino and be like, ‘Oh no dude.’ ”
Santino’s comments come amid widespread media attention on the couple’s engagement and the question of who will be invited to the wedding. The announcement pair captioned their engagement photos, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” posting images that included a rose-filled proposal scene.
Kelce has been public about his friendships and professional ventures beyond football, including the new steakhouse, while Swift continues to maintain a prominent public profile as a touring musician and recording artist. Santino’s remarks reflect the practicalities of assembling a guest list for two high-profile figures whose social circles include longtime friends, colleagues and celebrity acquaintances.
Santino’s appearance on “Pardon My Take” focused on his relationship with Kelce and his reaction to the engagement; he did not provide additional details about the wedding plans. Media reports and unnamed sources have supplied timelines and likely locations, but the couple has not publicly released a guest list or formal wedding details.
The conversation underlines the private decisions that accompany a public relationship: even amid intense media scrutiny, friends and acquaintances continue to wait for official invitations or announcements from the couple themselves. Santino said he holds no hard feelings and emphasized his friendship with Kelce, while acknowledging that a high-profile guest list is often shaped by the preferences of the couple planning the wedding.
