Colin Farrell made a rare public appearance with his youngest son, Henry, as the pair posed on the red carpet at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday. Farrell, 45, was among the nominees in the Best Actor category for his performance in HBO’s The Penguin and earlier this year won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor for the same role.

Farrell and Henry, 15 — whom he shares with Ondine co-star Alicja Bachleda-Curuś — arrived together in coordinated dark attire. The actor wore a black-and-white velvet tuxedo while Henry opted for all black. Farrell also has an older son, James, with former partner Kim Bordenave. Farrell and Bachleda-Curuś dated from approximately late 2008 to early 2010.

The 2025 ceremony featured a significant contingent of British and Irish talent across acting categories. Among the front-runners was Owen Cooper, the young star of Netflix’s Adolescence, who led his series to 13 nominations and is in contention in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category. Cooper, who would become the youngest male Emmy winner if successful, said ahead of the ceremony, “I will never forget this for the rest of my life. If I break the record that would be cool.” The current youngest male winner remains Scott Jacoby, who was 16 when he won in 1973.

Cooper’s co-stars also received nominations. Erin Doherty earned a nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her role in Adolescence; Stephen Graham, who co-created and co-wrote the series and appears as the protagonist’s father, received nominations in Outstanding Leading Actor and Outstanding Writing in a Limited Series. The Supporting Actor category that includes Cooper also features fellow nominee Ashley Walters for his performance as DI Luke Bascombe.

Other British and Irish nominees included Aimee Lou Wood, nominated for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her work on The White Lotus, and Irish actress Ruth Negga, nominated in the limited-series supporting actress field. Critics and media attention ahead of the ceremony highlighted standout episodes and scenes, including a widely praised one-take sequence featuring Doherty.

The Emmys’ mix of established names and relative newcomers underscored the awards’ recognition of performances across streaming and traditional networks. Farrell’s red-carpet appearance with his son marked a rare family outing for the actor amid awards-season campaigning, while the broader slate of nominations pointed to notable momentum for British and Irish productions and performers at this year’s show.
