Supermodel Christy Turlington, 57, is featured in Armani's new autumn/winter advertising campaign, showcasing a refreshingly unretouched portrayal of aging. The campaign, photographed by Oliver Hadlee Pearch, highlights Turlington in tailored grey blazers, a grey leather trench coat, and a crushed green velvet suit.

Unlike many fashion images that airbrush out signs of aging, the Armani campaign allows Turlington's natural features, including laughter lines and greying temples, to be visible. This approach is a departure from the often-glossy and flawless images presented by the fashion industry.

Turlington, a prominent supermodel of the 1990s, was discovered at age 14 and appeared on over 500 magazine covers globally. She has held lucrative contracts with brands such as Calvin Klein, Chanel, and Versace, and in 1991, she signed a significant deal with Maybelline.

Despite her high-profile career and marriage to actor and filmmaker Edward Burns, Turlington has largely maintained a lower profile. She told Harper's Bazaar in 2020, "I've always been more of a 'less is more' kind of person."

The campaign features the first womenswear collection designed by Silvana, niece of the late Giorgio Armani, who took over after the designer's passing at age 91 last September.

Turlington's casting aligns with a trend of older models being featured in high-profile campaigns to resonate with middle-aged consumers. Other notable examples include Claudia Schiffer, 56, as the face of Chloe, and Kate Moss, 52, who was recently named the new face of Gucci. However, some brands continue to feature younger models, with Kate Moss's daughter Lila, 23, fronting the Zadig & Voltaire campaign.
