Christie Brinkley, 72, recently caused a stir on Instagram when fans mistook her for her 28-year-old daughter, Sailor Brinkley-Cook. In a slideshow of images posted to the platform, Brinkley posed in a retro red Ford F-100 truck, wearing a navy-blue bell-sleeved top tucked into matching silver-button shorts and beige accessories. The photos were taken to promote her zero-sugar alcoholic beverage brands, Bellissima Prosecco & Wines and Bella Sprizz.
Her 1.7 million Instagram followers flooded the comments section with remarks about her appearance. "I thought you were your daughter for a second!" one user wrote, a sentiment echoed by many others. "OMG, I thought this was your daughter!" another commenter added. "You look amazing! But you always look amazing!" The comments also noted the striking resemblance between Brinkley and her daughter, with one user saying, "Your daughters won the gene lottery!"
Sailor Brinkley-Cook, who works as a Ford Model, also commented on her mother's post with a simple "Hot."
Brinkley, a mother of three, welcomed Sailor during her fourth marriage to architect Peter Cook. Her other children include 40-year-old daughter Alexa Ray Joel and 31-year-old son Jack Brinkley-Cook. Alexa is from Brinkley's marriage to musician Billy Joel, while Jack is from her marriage to real estate developer Richard Taubman.
In a recent interview with Social Life Magazine, Brinkley discussed aging, stating, "I think that with age you get... freer. You do what you wanna do when you wanna do it. I think that there's a freedom that comes with age that's quite wonderful. You don't really care what anybody thinks about your outfit anymore. You know what you like. You know what you don't like. And you don't feel like you have to put up with the stuff that you don't like anymore."
Brinkley has been open about some of the cosmetic procedures she has undergone, including Botox on her forehead and laser treatments. She reportedly receives injectable filler once a year for her marionette lines.
Brinkley is also slated to appear in the upcoming coming-of-age family comedy "American Summer," directed by Michael W. Gray. She will portray an older version of the character Kelly, alongside Steve Guttenberg as an older Mikey. The film is scheduled to be released in limited U.S. theaters on September 4. Additionally, Brinkley manages her clothing company, Tower Hill.
