Chrissie Hynde, the 74-year-old lead vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist of the iconic rock band The Pretenders, has revealed her distress after her dog, Nico, went missing. In an Instagram post on Thursday, Hynde stated she is "absolutely heartbroken" and expressed concerns that Nico, a five-year-old Jack Russell cross, may have been kidnapped.
Nico was last seen approximately two weeks ago in Silkstream Park in Colindale, London. Hynde urged anyone who spots her dog to approach with caution, as Nico might be nervous after being away for an extended period. "I realise she could be anywhere in the country now if she got into someone's car or if someone has taken her away somehow," Hynde wrote, sharing a photo of her pet. "Please don't chase her as she might be very nervous having been on the run now for two weeks. If you know anything about her whereabouts can you let me know?"
In a further appeal, Hynde asked, "Can anyone in Great Britain tell me of the whereabouts of my little dog Nico?"
She speculated on various scenarios, including the possibility that someone had taken a liking to Nico and was keeping her, or that the dog had been taken for "some malicious purpose." Hynde also expressed the grim possibility that Nico might have been injured and left to suffer alone. "Please, please please, if anyone has seen her at all, can you let me know? Hugs, Chrissie,"
The band CHHQ will be monitoring comments and message requests for any information. The Pretenders, formed in 1978, are known for hits such as "Brass In Pocket," "Talk Of The Town," and "Don't Get Me Wrong."
