Chris Evans has become the subject of widespread plastic surgery speculation following his appearance in the recently released trailer for "Avengers: Doomsday." The 45-year-old actor, reprising his iconic role as Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, drew immediate attention from fans who noted a perceived change in his appearance.
In the brief trailer appearance, Evans sported a dark beard and longer hair. Many viewers took to social media platforms, particularly X (formerly Twitter), to voice their surprise, with some commenting on a "puffier face" and a "different nose." One widely shared post included a comparison image, questioning "what did he do to his face?" Another user humorously remarked, "Like that's a different person. That's your uncle who 'kinda looks like Chris Evans if you squint.'"
While some fans suggested the changes might be attributed to "age," others were convinced that cosmetic procedures were involved. Conversely, a segment of his fanbase defended the actor, proposing that the visual differences could be due to lighting, a specific role requirement for the film, or simply the natural effects of aging.
Dr. Rozbeh Torabi, a double board-certified plastic surgeon in Arizona who has not treated Evans, reviewed photos of the actor. Dr. Torabi suggested that while Evans "might have some Botox," he "definitely no facelift or rhinoplasty." The surgeon speculated that many of the observed changes could be attributed to the "normal aging process" and possibly a diligent skincare regimen. Dr. Torabi highlighted the potential benefits of daily exfoliation, vitamin C, retinol, peptide skincare, and sunscreen in achieving a "glow."
Evans first portrayed Steve Rogers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2011's "Captain America: The First Avenger" and concluded his arc in "Avengers: Endgame" in 2019. In that film, Rogers returned the Infinity Stones and chose to live in the past with Peggy Carter.
"Avengers: Doomsday" is slated for theatrical release on December 18, 2026. Representatives for Chris Evans have been contacted for comment.
