Cheryl is reportedly in advanced discussions to join the upcoming series of The Voice UK as a coach, marking a significant return to primetime television. This would be her first primetime TV appearance in six years, with her last role as a dance captain on BBC's The Greatest Dancer in 2020.
Sources indicate that talks between the Girls Aloud star, 43, and show producers have been ongoing for months. Filming for the new season is scheduled to begin on September 11 in Manchester. A source told The Sun that while producers have approached Cheryl annually, the timing was never suitable until now. "This year it’s different. She feels ready to re-enter the spotlight and talks are now in the final stages," the insider stated. The production team is reportedly operating under the assumption she will join, with her long-term friend Will.i.am also expected to be on the judging panel.
Negotiations are reportedly so advanced that details such as Cheryl's hair and makeup budget are being discussed. Representatives for Cheryl and The Voice UK have been contacted for comment.
If Cheryl joins the ITV show, it would coincide with other potential changes to the program, as reports suggest Alesha Dixon and Stacey Solomon may replace departing host Emma Willis.
Other Career Pursuits
In addition to potential coaching duties, Cheryl is reportedly considering a major career move in the form of a documentary about her life. Insiders suggest the film would explore her career successes, starting with her beginnings on Popstars: The Rivals, and offer rare insights into her personal life, including her marriages to Ashley Cole and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, and her relationship with Liam Payne. Cheryl has largely withdrawn from public life since the death of her son Bear's father, Liam Payne, two years ago.
She previously focused on motherhood after welcoming Bear in 2017 and returned to the stage for the Girls Aloud reunion tour in 2024, honoring late bandmate Sarah Harding. Sources close to Cheryl indicate she feels she has a story to tell and is considering signing up for the documentary, though no specific streaming platform has been attached yet. She is expected to seek creative control, having expressed regret over her 2012 documentary 'Access All Areas.'
Cheryl has not released new music since 2019. However, in June, her social media accounts were reportedly hacked, with unauthorized tracks titled 'Taking Care,' 'Inner Peace,' and 'I Miss Who I Was' appearing on her YouTube channel. A similar incident occurred in January when a new song was posted to her Spotify artist page.
