Singer Cher Lloyd has announced her separation from husband Craig Monk after 13 years of marriage. Lloyd, 32, shared the news on Instagram, confirming her wedding ring was "in the bin" approximately three months after the death of her father.
Speculation about the marriage's status began when Lloyd posted a photo of her ring-free hand on social media. Responding to a follower's question about the missing ring, Lloyd confirmed it was "in the bin."
Lloyd and Monk married in November 2013, following a swift romance. The couple have two daughters, Delilah-Rae, aged seven, and Eliza Violet, aged two. They became engaged in 2012 after less than a year of dating, having met at a hair salon after Lloyd's success on The X Factor.
In April, Lloyd announced the passing of her father, Darren. She shared a text message exchange with him, expressing her profound grief. At the time, she mentioned her father had been hospitalized twice during the COVID-19 lockdown and had pre-existing health conditions, causing her significant concern.
Lloyd first gained public attention at age 16 in 2010 on The X Factor, where she was mentored by Cheryl Cole. She finished fourth on the show and signed with Simon Cowell's Syco Music label. Her debut album, Sticks And Stones, was released in 2011, featuring the hit single "Swagger Jagger." Her second album, Sorry I'm Late, followed in 2014.
In 2020, Lloyd discussed leaving Syco Music, citing disagreements with Cowell over her career direction and her discomfort with the level of "control." More recently, in January 2025, she released the single "Head Down," which some interpreted as a commentary on her past experiences in the music industry, with lyrics such as "You sold me the dream, I was just seventeen, chewed me up, spit me out."
Lloyd has recently returned to the music scene, releasing the single "Green Light" in April 2025, which is part of her forthcoming third studio album. A representative for Cher Lloyd has been contacted for comment.
