Chase Chrisley said he checked himself into rehab to address alcohol use and what he called "a lot of trauma" during the series finale of The Chrisleys: Back to Reality on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old reality star told viewers he had been trying to "bury" his issues and decided treatment was necessary. He was accompanied to the facility by his father, Todd Chrisley, and his girlfriend, Jodi Laine Fournerat. "I just need to go and handle a lot of trauma that I have buried," Chase said on the program, adding that he hoped to "just ... find [him]self."
Todd Chrisley, 56, offered his son encouragement before leaving him at the treatment center, telling Chase, "Your life story does not have to be that I had an alcohol and substance abuse problem. That's not your life's story. That's a part. That's a chapter." In a confessional, Todd said he felt "sad" about bringing his son to rehab and described the moment he boarded a plane without Chase as difficult.
Todd also reflected on the family's recent legal troubles. He and his wife, Julie, were released from federal custody in May after receiving pardons from President Donald Trump. Todd referenced his own prison time, noting it would not define his children's lives as he prayed for their protection.
In the episode, Todd drew a connection between Chase's decision to enter treatment and earlier struggles within the family. He referred to eldest son Kyle Chrisley's history with substance abuse as "preparation" for addressing Chase's problems.
Chase's substance-related issues have been public this year. He was arrested in January in an alleged drunken altercation with a bar manager, and in March he posted on social media that he was nearly one month sober, writing that he felt "better than I have in years." On the finale, he reiterated that confronting long-buried emotions was a primary reason for seeking treatment.
The show's finale framed the decision as part of an ongoing family narrative about legal consequences and recovery. Producers did not provide additional details about the length or location of Chase's treatment, and representatives for the Chrisley family did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The Chrisley family rose to prominence through their reality series, and recent seasons have incorporated the family's legal challenges and personal struggles into the program's storylines. The series finale presented Chase's entry into rehab as the latest development in that arc, with family members voicing concern and support on camera.
