Charlize Theron marked the world premiere of "The Odyssey" with a bold fashion display, sharing a daring topless photograph before attending the film's afterparty in Mayfair on Monday. The 50-year-old actress posted the image to Instagram, in which she is seen covering herself with her arms while seated on a bed.
Theron later changed into a vibrant scarlet gown by Givenchy for the celebration at Oswald's club. The dress featured a halter neckline, a ruffled back, and a thigh-high slit, paired with towering black heels and dramatic black leather gloves. She accessorized with diamond drop earrings.
Earlier in the evening, Theron appeared on the red carpet in London for "The Odyssey" premiere, wearing a black velvet dress and white gloves, also showcasing a thigh-high split.
The film, directed by Christopher Nolan, is an adaptation of Homer's epic poem and boasts a star-studded cast including Zendaya, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, Matt Damon, and Robert Pattinson. Theron portrays Calypso in the movie.
"The Odyssey" has garnered attention not only for its cast and Nolan's directorial ambition, but also for recent discussions surrounding its casting choices. Elon Musk previously called the casting of Lupita Nyong'o, who plays Clytemnestra, "historically inaccurate." Nolan defended his casting decisions, stating that historical depictions often reflected the time in which the stories were first told. Sunny Hostin of "The View" and Alec Baldwin have publicly supported Nolan's casting choices.
