Charles Spencer, Earl Spencer, observed the 29th anniversary of his sister Princess Diana's death on Monday with a somber message shared on social media. He posted a photograph of the Spencer family's Althorp Estate, where the flag was flown at half-mast, accompanied by the caption, "31 August. My least favourite day."

Princess Diana died in a high-speed car crash in Paris on August 31, 1997, at the age of 36. The accident also claimed the lives of her companion Dodi Al-Fayed and the driver, Henri Paul. Trevor Rees-Jones, a bodyguard, was the sole survivor, undergoing extensive reconstructive surgery and experiencing memory loss regarding the incident.

At the time of Diana's passing, her sons Prince William and Prince Harry were 15 and 12 years old, respectively.

Charles Spencer, along with his sisters Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, publicly reunited with Prince William and Prince Harry in 2021 to unveil a statue at Kensington Palace in honor of Diana's 60th birthday. Following the unveiling, William and Harry issued a joint statement expressing their enduring grief, "Every day, we wish she were still with us."

Charles Spencer also recently announced plans to publish a book about his late sister, titled "SWAN SONG: Diana, My Sister." He stated that the book aims to present an honest account of Diana from his perspective, similar to his eulogy at her funeral, with the intention of speaking on her behalf in a positive manner. This endeavor comes as the 30th anniversary of Diana's death, on August 31, 2027, approaches, prompting increased media interest.
