Charisma Carpenter, known for her role as Cordelia Chase in the 1990s hit "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and its spin-off "Angel," recently shared a series of photos celebrating her 56th birthday.

The actress posted a vibrant collection of images on Instagram, detailing her birthday festivities, which included dancing, live music, clubbing, travel, boating, paddle-boarding, World Cup watching, and enjoying meals.

"So grateful for the friends in my life who helped me celebrate all this week the joy of dancing til you’re dripping wet with sweat, live music, clubbing, travel, boating, paddle-boarding, World Cup watching, eating well and embracing tan lines," Carpenter wrote in the caption. "Thank you! You know who you are!"

Carpenter, who also posed nude for Playboy four months after her last "Angel" episode aired in 2004, showcased a toned physique in a scarlet bikini, drawing attention to her appearance 22 years after her magazine cover.

In past interviews, Carpenter has spoken about the effort required to maintain her figure, particularly after turning 40. She noted in a 2013 interview with OK! magazine that her metabolism had changed significantly, making it challenging to balance her enjoyment of potato chips and cocktails with her fitness goals. She emphasized the importance of "good, old-fashioned diet and exercise."

Despite the challenges, Carpenter reflected that she felt her best physically after the birth of her son and when she posed for Playboy. She also mentioned working out regularly with trainer Marc Monroe, who incorporated varied methods like boxing and outdoor workouts.

In 2021, Carpenter joined other actors in making allegations against "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon. She claimed he called her "fat" while she was four months pregnant during her time on "Angel" and questioned her decision to keep the baby. Carpenter stated that Whedon subsequently attacked her character, mocked her religious beliefs, accused her of sabotaging the show, and ultimately fired her after she gave birth.

Despite these past conflicts, Carpenter returned to the "Buffyverse" in 2023 for the Audible Original series "Slayers," a project not involving Whedon. She acknowledged initial apprehension about joining "Slayers" but felt reassured by the enthusiasm of co-star Amber Benson, who created the series.
