Chappell Roan, 28, made a surprise appearance at Noah Kahan's sold-out concert at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday night. Kahan brought Roan out as a special guest during his The Great Divide tour stop in Pasadena to perform her song "California."
Before their performance, Roan expressed her gratitude to Kahan, stating he has consistently supported her. "Noah always stands up for me, seriously," Roan said, referencing an incident earlier this year involving a security guard. "He's a good person, for real."
Kahan, 29, spoke highly of Roan's music, introducing the song by saying it was the first he heard of hers and the reason he fell in love with her work. "I'm just really proud of her and thankful that she would come sing with me," he added.
Roan's appearance comes approximately five months after a security incident in Brazil involving Jude Law's daughter, Ada. In March, Ada and her mother, Catherine Harding, alleged they were confronted by a security guard at a hotel in Sao Paulo. The situation led to criticism of Roan on social media, though she later issued an apology and denied sending anyone to confront the child. It subsequently emerged that the security guard involved was not working for Roan but for pop star Sabrina Carpenter.
Following the controversy, Roan was banned from performing at Rio de Janeiro's Todo Mundo no Rio festival by the city's mayor. Although she attended the Coachella Music Festival in April, she has otherwise maintained a lower public profile.
Prior to the Rose Bowl performance, footage surfaced that appeared to show Roan signaling to a security guard when she noticed a fan filming her at Sydney Airport in February. The guard then reportedly approached the fan. Roan has previously spoken about the challenges of fame and has addressed what she considers to be 'creepy' or 'invasive' fan behavior on social media.
Kahan's "The Great Divide" tour continues, with Roan's surprise guest spot marking a notable moment during the Los Angeles stop.
