Celine Dion, preparing for her upcoming Paris concerts, surprised fans on Thursday with an impromptu performance outside the Le Royal Monceau Hotel. The Canadian singer, who has been largely out of the public eye while managing stiff-person syndrome (SPS), engaged with admirers, singing and dancing for them.

Dion is scheduled for 16 shows in Autumn 2026 and an additional 10 dates in May 2027 in Paris. Her return to the stage follows a three-year hiatus during which she canceled her world tour due to the neurological disorder that causes muscle stiffness and spasms. The singer revealed the challenges of her condition in her 2024 documentary, "I Am: Celine Dion."

Despite being dressed down in an oversized gray tracksuit, Dion maintained her signature polished appearance with her hair styled in a neat bun and full makeup.

This public appearance comes shortly after her first public sighting in two years last week. Her last stage performance was in Riyadh in 2024, though she has since been seen attending concerts by Paul McCartney and Coldplay. In March, Dion announced her return to the stage with a ten-date Paris residency, which was later extended due to high demand.

Preparing for her comeback, Dion has been following a rigorous workout schedule, including three 90-minute Pilates sessions and twice-weekly ballet classes. She described her recovery as a continuous process of falling and getting back up.

Dion was diagnosed with SPS in 2022, following symptoms that began to manifest more severely around 2020. She spent three years largely isolated, partly due to concerns that fans might perceive her as living a normal life while she was canceling shows. During this period, she developed a deep appreciation for nature, likening her struggles to barren trees in autumn.

Reflecting on her hiatus, Dion expressed her eagerness to reconnect with her fans, acknowledging their crucial role in her career. "They paid for tickets. They bought my records. They gave me that luxury. So the least I can do is tell them that I’m alive," she told Harper's Bazaar. She also shared her determination to embrace all aspects of being a performer, even the demanding ones.
