Surveillance cameras at a Wiltshire auction house recorded an antique baby carriage moving through an otherwise empty room in the early hours of Aug. 30, footage that was later posted to social media and has drawn viral attention and debate.
RWB Auctions director Jon White said the company's security system detected movement inside the facility at about 2 a.m., and cameras showed the old-style stroller rolling through a room without anyone visibly pushing it. The cart appeared to methodically move toward a lit doorway, stopping and starting over a period of roughly 10 minutes before coming to rest.
The carriage was among items consigned from a property in Highclere, a village in the south of England where, White said, residents have reported other unexplained incidents. Staff at RWB Auctions posted the footage on TikTok with the caption, "real ghost caught on CCTV? Wtf did we just see?" The video quickly circulated online, prompting a mixture of astonishment, humor and skepticism from viewers.
White confirmed the provenance of the carriage and said the clip originated from the auction house's CCTV. He did not offer an explanation for the movement in the footage. The auction listing for the stroller did not reference the surveillance incident; the item was offered on Wednesday and drew a final bid of nearly $40.
The footage has joined a long line of viral videos that show unusual occurrences on camera and spark discussion about possible natural, mechanical or staged causes. RWB Auctions handled the item as part of routine estate-sale consignments, and the company provided the recording after staff noticed the movement. The auction listing remained a standard entry on the house's platform and made no mention of the carriage's nighttime activity.
Independent verification of the event, including a forensic analysis of the video or a mechanical inspection of the carriage, was not made public by the auction house. White said the security system recorded the movement and that staff members were surprised by the footage, but he stopped short of offering a definitive account of how the stroller began to move.
The video highlights the continued public fascination with purportedly paranormal footage circulated on social platforms, and it illustrates how quickly such clips can drive attention to routine items sold through estate and auction channels. RWB Auctions did not announce any further investigation into the incident at the time the footage was released.
The carriage's sale completed the item's transfer from consignment to buyer, concluding the episode in which a piece of household furniture captured broad online interest after moving in a reportedly uninhabited space.
