The cause of death for actor Daveigh Chase, best known for voicing Lilo in Disney's "Lilo & Stitch" and portraying Samara in "The Ring," has been revealed as AIDS, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner.

An official report listed "chronic polysubstance use"—the use of multiple drugs over a short period—as a significant condition contributing to her death. The medical examiner classified the death as natural. Chase died earlier this month in an Los Angeles hospital at the age of 35.

Chase rose to fame as a child actor. Beyond Lilo, she lent her voice to Chihiro in the English-language dub of the Oscar-winning film "Spirited Away." Her role as the villain in "The Ring" earned her an award at the MTV Movie & TV Awards in 2003. She also appeared in the HBO series "Big Love."

Her father, John David Schwallier, told The New York Times that Chase had been struggling with drug addiction and homelessness for the past decade. He also stated that she was battling bacterial meningitis and a blood infection at the time of her death.
