Cate Blanchett and Rosamund Pike shared the front row at the Giorgio Armani Show during Paris Haute Couture Week on Tuesday, marking a stylish reunion nearly 20 years after their first notable appearance together at a fashion event.
The actresses, who previously attended the Giorgio Armani Prive show in Paris in 2007, showcased enduring style in coordinated black and white ensembles. Blanchett, 57, wore a black velvet jumpsuit with a white trim, while Pike, 47, donned a classic black satin suit paired with a white blouse.
In 2007, Pike, then 28, wore a white satin dress, and Blanchett, then 38, sported a charcoal grey blazer dress with leather panels. This year's appearance highlights their continued presence in the fashion world and their nearly two-decade-long connection.
Blanchett has previously spoken about her views on aging, expressing in 2018 that she was "there are so many lives" she still wants to live and that she refuses to let age define her career. She also advocated for celebrating diverse forms of beauty, urging women to embrace their individuality rather than conform to societal expectations.
"I'd say 'f**k that' a bit more," she commented regarding societal pressures, particularly her younger self's desire to tan her pale skin. "And that's where women can step in and really champion different types of beauty and working [with] what you've got."
Blanchett has also critiqued the impact of social media filters, suggesting they create unrealistic expectations of aging and beauty. She finds the prevalence of digitally altered appearances, likening them to "Barbie dolls," to be "confronting" as people appear not to age naturally. She stated that seeing photos of her younger self does not evoke regret but rather a "recognition of the joy of the experience or a painful moment."
Pike discussed the concept of agelessness, emphasizing the importance of "an ageless energy" alongside appearance. She highlighted spirit, health, energy, and skin vibrancy as key elements she has always pursued. Pike also shared insights into her skincare, noting her fine, translucent skin requires careful sun protection, leading her to wear a hat whenever outdoors since she was 14.
