Carys Douglas, 23, the daughter of actors Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, has embarked on her acting career, recently making her New York City theater debut.

Douglas took on a role in Anton Chekhov's play "The Seagull," which ran from June 20 to June 27 at St. Lydia's in Brooklyn. A video shared on Instagram captured moments from her performance, showing her delivering lines alongside a castmate and participating in an emotional scene. The production concluded with the cast taking a bow, and Douglas was seen signing autographs for attendees.

A friend of Douglas told the Daily Mail in May that her famous parents are "so proud" of her achievement. Social media users have commented on her performance, with many noting a resemblance in her voice and appearance to her mother, Catherine Zeta-Jones. Others saw similarities to her father, Michael Douglas, referencing his past roles.

Last year, Douglas graduated from Brown University with a degree in film and international relations. She previously expressed her interest in pursuing acting and performing arts after college. "I grew up doing theater, and I didn't study acting in school, but that's why I'm happy to be in such an informative arts space, so hopefully more of that," she told People magazine.

Douglas and Zeta-Jones, who married in 2000, also have a son, Dylan, 25. Zeta-Jones has spoken about the challenges of children following their parents into the entertainment industry. "Michael and I would be the first parents to say, 'You know, maybe you should think of another career,'" she said on the Today show in 2021. However, she acknowledged her children's passion for acting as a craft and their experience in theater camps.

Zeta-Jones emphasized the importance of manners for her children, stating, "There's nothing worse than a privileged kid without manners. I drilled it into them like boot camp." She noted that her children understand the realities of celebrity life.

Carys Douglas' professional acting career includes appearances in the 2024 short films "F*** That Guy" and "Shell." She is also slated to appear in the upcoming romantic comedy "The Problem With Poets," which is currently in post-production. Douglas and Zeta-Jones have acknowledged that while many doors may seem open for children of famous actors, they must prove themselves to overcome comparisons to their parents. They have expressed excitement for their children's chosen journeys.
