Cardi B told Matthew McConaughey on Tuesday's episode of Today with Jenna & Friends that a line in a remix verse prompted her to reference the actor.

Cardi B was guest hosting the NBC morning show alongside Jenna Bush Hager when she interviewed McConaughey about his new poetry book and his upcoming thriller, The Lost Bus. The pair recalled meeting previously at Madonna's Oscars party, and Bush Hager quipped that she never would have expected the three of them to sit on a panel together.

During the conversation, Bush Hager reminded McConaughey that he appears in a line on Cardi B's verse in the remix of "Wanna Be," which features GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion. The lyric in question reads, "And my toes white like Matthew McConaughey." McConaughey reacted with good-natured curiosity, saying, "Yeah, white toes. Talk to me."

Cardi B explained that the reference grew out of a Megan Thee Stallion line about "fine white men," which led her to riff on the idea and land on "white toes, Matthew McConaughey." She added that she altered the pronunciation of his last name to make the rhyme work. "But I said your last name wrong because I had to rhyme it… He's a poet, he knows about it," she told McConaughey, who smiled and accepted the explanation.

The brief exchange was part of a wider interview in which McConaughey discussed his poetry and his forthcoming film project. Today with Jenna & Friends airs weekdays on NBC. The moment underscored the playful back-and-forth that can arise when music and Hollywood intersect, and it drew attention to how artists borrow and reshape cultural references in song lyrics.
