Cardi B announced Wednesday that she is pregnant with her fourth child and her first with New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
The 32-year-old rapper revealed the news during an interview on CBS Mornings with host Gayle King, saying, "I'm having a baby with my boyfriend Stefon Diggs." She told King the child is due in February and that she had delayed making the announcement until she had "closed some deals first." Cardi B has three children with her ex-husband, Migos rapper Offset.
Cardi B, who went public with her relationship with Diggs in June, said the pair share a drive to excel in their respective fields and that Diggs, 31, has been a source of stability as she prepares to release her forthcoming album, Am I The Drama?. She credited him with helping her manage anxiety related to the album rollout, saying he made her feel "safe and very confident and very strong." The rapper said she experienced a panic attack in recent weeks amid a critical response to some of her promotional efforts.
Her comments came as she prepares to release Am I The Drama?, which is due to arrive on Sept. 19 and includes a track titled "Safe." Cardi B described the emotional toll of public criticism, saying negative reactions to her work have sometimes made her hesitate to release music. She also told King she had not yet informed her parents, quipping that she was "scared of them."
Cardi B has remained in the headlines this year beyond personal updates. She recently won a $24 million judgment in a civil assault trial, and last week drew mixed reactions for a low-budget promotional video in which she posed as a street vendor selling CDs on a subway to promote the album. Some fans called the stunt "desperate," while others praised the unconventional marketing.
Diggs, who signed with the Patriots in March, has kept a lower-profile personal life amid his NFL career. The relationship with Cardi B became public on June 1 when the rapper posted images with the wide receiver on social media.
Public figures' pregnancy announcements often intersect with professional activities. Cardi B's disclosure comes as she navigates an active period in her career — promoting a new album while addressing legal and public-relations challenges. She spoke on CBS Mornings about balancing those pressures with personal life, emphasizing the support she said she receives from Diggs as she prepares for both a new release and a new child.
Representatives for Cardi B and Stefon Diggs did not immediately respond to requests for further comment. CBS did not provide additional details beyond the on-air interview.
