The classic Candy Land board game has transformed a San Diego restaurant into a life-size, immersive eatery called the Candy Land Cafe. The pop-up, a collaboration between Bucket Listers and Hasbro, aims to bring the nostalgic childhood game to life for visitors.
The transformed Bayside Kitchen + Bar features elements like a Lollipop Woods tunnel, giant Jolly Gumdrops, and a path leading to King Kandy’s Candy Castle. The experience is designed to be highly "Instagram-ready," offering numerous photo opportunities and interactive activities.
Despite its playful appearance, organizers emphasize that the Candy Land Cafe is a restaurant, not a playground. Visitors are prohibited from climbing, sitting, or leaning on the installations, which are intended for photography. Rule breakers may be asked to leave without a refund and could be held responsible for any damage caused to the displays.
The menu features a whimsical take on fast-casual favorites, including rainbow-colored grilled cheese sandwiches, "lollipopcorn" chicken, and elaborate ice-cream flights. The cafe also offers a "Chocolate Fundu" experience for groups, along with colorful cocktails and mocktails. Guests can participate in activities such as decorating gingerbread cookies and completing a "Sweet Adventure Checklist."
Tickets for the Candy Land Cafe start at $25 per person and include a 90-minute reservation, a $10 food credit, and a $5 merchandise credit. The pop-up is scheduled to operate in San Diego through October 4.
