Candace Cameron Bure said she deleted a swimsuit photo from her Instagram after the post drew a flood of comments focused on her body.

The 49-year-old actress told followers during an Instagram question-and-answer that the image — which showed her in a one-piece and had been shared while she was “soaking up the end of summer” — was meant to be lighthearted. "It wasn’t about the bathing suit or my body," Bure said. "But the comments became flooded with people discussing my body. It wasn’t worth it. I took it down."

Bure has spoken candidly about struggles with body image and disordered eating for years. On a July episode of The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast, she said she developed an eating disorder at 18, describing episodes of binging and purging and saying the thoughts associated with bulimia have lingered even when behavior has not. She told listeners she had tried "every single diet plan since [she] was 12 years old," and has called managing a healthy relationship with food an ongoing effort.

The actress first disclosed her battle with bulimia in her 2010 memoir Reshaping It All, and in a 2016 interview with Entertainment Tonight she said she sometimes turned to food for comfort when her husband was away. She has repeatedly framed the issue as a long-term challenge requiring continuous attention and tools to resist harmful behaviors.

The Instagram post removal follows other personal revelations Bure has made publicly this year. In July she said her 30-year marriage to former NHL player Valeri Bure nearly ended after a particularly "rough season" when both partners considered splitting. She said the couple, who married in 1996, were moving toward separation in 2020 until their children intervened.

On the podcast episode, Bure credited their middle son, Lev, with helping guide the family through that period by encouraging mature, faith-based conversations. "It was going south quickly," she said. "And we were like, 'I don't know, I don't think ... we're gonna make it through.'" She added that the talk from their children changed the trajectory for the family. The couple are parents to three adult children: Natasha, Lev and Maksim.

Bure has also discussed how the COVID-19 pandemic intensified unresolved issues in her marriage. In a 2021 interview with Yahoo! Lifestyle, she said the pandemic forced conversations that had long been avoided and made it unavoidable to address underlying problems.

The longtime television star and author has shared other personal milestones publicly in recent years, including social-media tributes marking anniversaries and recalling how she and Valeri met through her Full House co-star Dave Coulier. In a June post, Bure wrote that the couple's first official date was at his practice rink in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and noted the timeline of their engagement and marriage.

In explaining why she removed the swimsuit image, Bure framed the decision as a response to online commentary rather than a critique of the clothing itself. Her remark to followers underscored an ongoing sensitivity to public scrutiny of her body and the lasting imprint of her earlier struggles with disordered eating.

Representatives for Bure did not immediately respond to requests for further comment.
