Candace Cameron Bure revealed on her podcast this week that she has been deeply affected by ongoing criticism of her voice. "People always comment [on] how annoying my voice is," Bure said, becoming emotional on Tuesday's episode of the "Candace Cameron Bure Podcast."
Bure shared that the criticism is persistent, with some listeners reportedly stating they turned off their televisions due to her vocal tone. "It’s a lot. It’s the one criticism I constantly hear is my voice," she admitted, reaching for tissues.
However, the actress found a source of solace and validation in reading Bible verses on her social media platforms. She noted an unexpectedly positive reception, with many followers expressing appreciation for her readings.
"I’ve never had more people say to me, ‘I love to hear you read the Bible. You make the Bible come alive for me. Will you keep reading the bible, please? I love the sound of your voice,’" Bure shared. "It feels so redemptive that, like, God’s using the very thing that glorifies him and the thing that’s brought me pain and then be rewarded for it."
Bure explained that this full-circle realization brought her to tears. "I’m crying because I just got really self-conscious of my voice because that’s what you’re listening to. But I have a podcast and we’re sharing Jesus," she said. "And that’s what my heart is. My heart is just to bring people one step closer to Jesus."
This is not the first time Bure has addressed online negativity. Last year, she responded to trolls who body-shamed an Instagram post of her in a bikini. After initially deleting the photo due to the comments, she later re-posted it, asserting her right to share such images.
