Cameron Diaz and her husband, Benji Madden, were photographed Thursday with their youngest child, Cardinal, during a casual daytime stroll through New York City, their first public appearance together in more than a year.
Diaz, 53, wore a casual double-denim look: a white V-neck T-shirt layered under a denim jacket with straight-leg jeans and white sneakers. She carried a small crossbody bag, wore her hair in a messy bun and kept makeup minimal, finishing the look with aviator-style sunglasses. Madden, 46, wore a black T-shirt under an oversized hoodie with a bleach-inspired distressed design, a black trucker cap and a shiny gold chain. Cardinal wore a cream-colored sweater, blue pants and sneakers as Diaz walked beside the stroller. The family also shares five-year-old daughter Raddix, who has been seen with them on prior occasions.

Diaz and Madden, who celebrated their 10-year wedding anniversary in January, have kept their family life largely private. The couple welcomed Cardinal in spring 2024 and did not publicly announce Diaz’s pregnancy beforehand. They later posted about Cardinal’s birth on Instagram, noting their intent to keep photos of the children private for safety, while expressing joy at the new addition. Public sightings of the pair had been rare since August 2024 when they were last photographed together before this week’s outing.
Diaz is returning to acting after giving birth, with her next project tied to Shrek 5. The DreamWorks animated film has been delayed to summer 2027, moving to a June 30, 2027 release from its previously planned December 2026 date. Universal has also shifted an untitled Illumination project from Shrek 5’s old date to April 16, 2027. The adjustments come as Diaz resumes her film career while Madden and Diaz continue to maintain a private family life away from the spotlight.
The outing underscores Diaz and Madden’s efforts to balance public appearances with a commitment to privacy for their children, a hallmark of their public-facing approach for more than a decade.
