Cameron Diaz and husband Benji Madden made a rare joint public appearance Saturday, cosying up at a Michael Rubin REFORM Alliance casino night in Atlantic City as the couple returned to the social scene following their first sighting together in more than a year.
Photographs from the event show the pair posing together and trying their luck at a poker table. Earlier in the week they had been photographed out with their young son, Cardinal Madden, marking the first time the family had been seen together in 13 months.
Diaz, 53, and Madden, 46, married in 2015 and are parents to daughter Raddix, 5, and son Cardinal, who was announced in spring 2024. Madden, a founding member of the band Good Charlotte, shared the birth news on Instagram at the time, writing that the family felt “blessed and grateful.” The couple have otherwise maintained a low profile since stepping back from frequent red‑carpet appearances.
At Saturday’s event Diaz took part in a game of poker and later posed for a selfie with longtime friend and co‑star Jamie Foxx. Foxx and Diaz reunited on screen earlier this year when Diaz ended an acting retirement that began in 2014 to appear with him in Netflix’s Back In Action.
Madden has previously spoken in public about their private marriage. In March, while a guest on Rob Lowe’s SiriusXM podcast Literally!, Madden and his twin brother Joel discussed their home lives, with Benji saying he and Joel “fear” their strong partners. “Go against my wife? Good luck. I don’t even need to get involved,” he said.
The couple’s appearance comes as Diaz prepares to return to another major franchise. DreamWorks announced that Shrek 5 has been delayed from December 2026 to June 30, 2027. The new release date moves the film out of a crowded holiday schedule and places it in a summer window alongside other studio shifts. Diaz is set to reprise her role as Princess Fiona, with Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy returning as Shrek and Donkey, and Zendaya joining the cast as Shrek’s daughter, Felicia.
Shrek 5 will be the first installment in the main series since 2010’s Shrek Forever After and represents another high‑profile project for Diaz following her return to acting earlier this year. The Atlantic City appearance offered one of the more visible glimpses of her family life since she and Madden began prioritizing privacy after becoming parents.
Representatives for Diaz and Madden did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
