Bunnie Xo has detailed the significant physical and emotional toll her divorce from Jelly Roll has taken. Speaking on Jenna Bush Hager’s “Open Book” podcast, Bunnie, whose real name is Alisa DeFord, described moments where her team had to administer IVs and help her off the floor. She shared that she lost 20 pounds and resorted to eating baby food to cope with the breakup, which occurred in May after nearly ten years of marriage. Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, filed for divorce on May 18, and the couple settled the proceedings in July.

Bunnie stated that she aims to emerge from the divorce stronger, comparing the situation to making lemonade from lemons. However, she clarified that the experience was deeply painful and that she allowed her listeners and viewers to witness her struggle. She had previously discussed the divorce at length on her “Dumb Blonde” podcast but later deleted the episode, explaining she did not want to dwell on the situation or be a "poster child for divorce."

"It’s a very devastating situation that anybody ever has to go through," Bunnie said. "Families get broken up. Hearts get broken. So it’s time to move on."

She also reflected on her independence during the marriage, noting her ability to stand on her own two feet. Bunnie expressed confidence in her continued ability to do so post-divorce, without needing to "dwell in that space of emotion."

Bunnie revealed that a final argument on Mother’s Day led her to encourage Jelly Roll to file divorce papers, though she admitted this was said in anger and frustration, and she did not genuinely want to split. Despite the divorce, she and Jelly Roll are still planning to have a baby together following her IVF journey.

Jelly Roll has remained more reserved about the divorce publicly. At a June concert, he told fans that he and Bunnie would "always be best friends." He has, however, been more vocal about his personal weight loss since the split.
