Victoria Beckham has included footage of her eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham, in a forthcoming Netflix documentary about her fashion and beauty business despite reports the two have been estranged in recent months.
Sources close to the production said scenes featuring Brooklyn — including footage from Victoria’s September 2024 Paris Fashion Week show in which he helps clear water from the catwalk after heavy rain — will remain in the series, which Netflix announced was in production in August and is due to premiere next month.
The documentary, described by those involved as chronicling Victoria Beckham’s business expansion, will include appearances by all four of her children: Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper. A person familiar with the project said the Paris episode was integral to the story of the brand, and that footage showing family members assisting behind the scenes was therefore retained.
Brooklyn, 26, has not been publicly in contact with his parents since May, according to people close to the family, and was not present for several family events earlier in the year. He was again absent from his brother Romeo’s 23rd birthday celebration this week at Aki, a Japanese restaurant in central London, where David and Victoria Beckham led the festivities. Cruz and his partner, Jackie Apostel, and Harper, 14, attended the party, and family photographs from the event show Romeo posing with his parents and siblings without Brooklyn.
Representatives for Victoria Beckham and Netflix did not immediately respond to requests for comment. A spokesperson for Brooklyn Beckham declined to comment.
People close to the Beckham household said that while David and Victoria no longer expect Brooklyn to attend family gatherings following earlier absences, his absence is felt. A source close to Romeo described the birthday celebration as a ‘‘lovely, low-key night’’ with family and friends in attendance. Photography from the event published by media outlets showed Victoria in a floor-length sheer black gown, David in a navy suit and Harper in a strapless black ballgown; Cruz wore a blue-and-cream shirt and jeans.
Netflix’s documentary series is being positioned as an inside look at the business side of Victoria Beckham’s brand, combining backstage access to fashion shows with family moments connected to the company. Sources said one scene in the series shows Cruz being fitted for a suit in the run-up to a show, and that the film will include multiple family interactions tied to Victoria’s work.
The inclusion of archival and behind-the-scenes footage featuring family members is common in documentaries that explore personal brands and family-owned enterprises. The Beckham family has long been the subject of media attention as figures in sport, fashion and entertainment, and the series is expected to draw significant public interest when it debuts next month.
Details on the documentary’s episode structure and exact release date have not been released by Netflix. Production insiders have said the series aims to combine business-focused material with personal storytelling about Victoria Beckham’s transition from pop star to entrepreneur and designer.
