Brooklyn Beckham is facing backlash on social media for a recent video where he prepared pasta using seawater. The clip, shared on TikTok, shows Beckham collecting water directly from the ocean to boil pasta noodles.
In the video, Beckham can be seen retrieving a large pot from the ocean, stating, "Of course we get some pasta water." He then proceeds to use this seawater to boil the noodles for a tomato pasta dish, which he seasons with oil, salt, and his own Cloud23 hot sauce. The dish is finished with basil, and Beckham is shown tasting it with another chef, both appearing to enjoy the meal.
However, the method drew immediate criticism from viewers in the comment section. Many users expressed concern about the cleanliness of ocean water for cooking. "Isn’t the ocean water dirty?" one commenter asked. Another user questioned if the video was intended as "ragebait." Concerns about potential contamination were echoed by others, with one commenter humorously suggesting, "Pasta water with a hint of burnt boat fuel please sir." An Italian user commented, "As italian, I’m pretty sure that sea water is the best way to spent all the next day in the bathroom 👍."
This is not the first time Beckham's cooking videos have drawn criticism. In June 2023, he was mocked for using a large amount of avocado oil to fry chicken. Despite the online commentary, Beckham has previously stated that such criticism does not affect him, telling Insider in October 2023, "I’m used to the hate. It doesn’t really bother me. Cooking makes me happy. I have more important things to worry about than people saying a little bit of rubbish about me."
