A black velvet coat, designed for French actress and animal rights activist Brigitte Bardot by Jean Bouquin in the 1960s, is set to be auctioned. The full-length, sleeveless coat is embroidered with butterflies and was worn by Bardot during the peak of her fame. It will be offered alongside signed photographs and a dedication from the actress.

The designs of Jean Bouquin were popular with the Saint-Tropez jet set in the 1960s and are often described as "hippie deluxe." Bouquin also designed for notable figures such as Mick and Bianca Jagger, Jane Birkin, and Natalie Wood. His work became closely associated with Bardot's bohemian and "hippie chic" aesthetic.

The auction is scheduled to begin at 10:00 BST on Tuesday. Proceeds from the sale will benefit animal welfare causes.
