Singer Beyoncé is facing criticism from her fanbase, known as the BeyHive, for releasing a limited-edition wooden "Bey keeper collector's box" for $948.01. The item, intended to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her album B'Day and her 45th birthday, has been met with backlash, with some fans calling it a "disgusting display of greed."
The product, described as a collector's box designed to "house and display your Beyonce vinyl collection," does not include any vinyl records. Further exacerbating fan frustration, the box is reportedly made of pine, a wood considered inexpensive, and its price point of $948.01 has drawn sharp reactions. While the price is noted to hold some significance in relation to Beyoncé's birthday (September 4, 1981), fans suggested a more appropriate price would be $94.81.
Fans expressed their disappointment on the Instagram page of Beyoncé's Parkwood Entertainment company. "$1K and it's an empty box Beyoncé you have lost your damn mind!" one commenter wrote, while another stated, "For that price I need you to pop out the box and perform."
The release coincides with a 31-track reissue of B'Day, which includes previously unreleased songs and Spanish versions of popular tracks featuring artists like Maluma and a sample of Selena. The original B'Day album, released in 2006, was a commercial success, selling over 8 million copies worldwide and earning a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album.
In related news, reports suggest that Beyoncé's former group, Destiny's Child, is preparing to release new music for their upcoming 30th anniversary. According to Mathew Knowles, the group's creator and manager, 10 to 15 remixes are recorded, with both urban and dance mixes among them. He also indicated that the group has unreleased video and audio material that is in the process of being shared. However, Knowles clarified that there are no current plans for a reunion tour.
Destiny's Child officially disbanded in 2005 after releasing their last album, Destiny Fulfilled, in November 2004. The members have maintained a close relationship since their split, most recently reuniting for a performance during Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour finale in July 2025.
