Ben Affleck was photographed leaving a Los Angeles golf shop on Saturday with his youngest son, Samuel, 13, one week after the actor's former wife, Jennifer Lopez, took the teen on a luxury shopping trip. Affleck carried a white shopping bag and Samuel appeared to be holding a new golf club after visiting the Roger Dunn Golf Shop.
The 53-year-old actor-director, who is growing a beard for an upcoming film, wore layered casual clothing and white sneakers. Samuel wore tan khakis, a navy golf shirt and white sneakers. Observers noted Affleck does not play golf regularly but appeared to be supporting his son's interest in learning the game.
The outing came days after Lopez, who was married to Affleck from 2022 until their divorce was finalized in January 2025, was seen shopping with Samuel in Beverly Hills. Photographs from that trip showed the singer and actress walking through an indoor retail area and Samuel carrying a large Balenciaga shopping bag. Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024.
Affleck has publicly praised Lopez's relationship with his children. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight earlier this year he said, "For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them." He added that he loves Lopez's children and described her as "enormously important" and a person of "a lot of integrity."
The three children Affleck shares with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner are Violet, 19, Samuel, 13, and Fin, 16. Lopez is also the mother of 17-year-old twins Emme and Max. The couple's second marriage created a blended family that both Affleck and Lopez have discussed publicly; Lopez spoke in 2023 about the "emotional transition" of moving children in together and described the period as a meaningful time for the family.
Affleck's public appearances with his children come as he promotes new work. Netflix released the trailer this week for The Rip, a film starring Affleck and Matt Damon as two Miami-Dade police officers whose partnership frays after they discover millions in cash. Affleck and Damon are producers on the project through their Artists Equity company. The Rip is scheduled to debut on Netflix on Jan. 16, 2026.
Despite their divorce, the actors and performers involved have continued to appear in public settings with family members in ways that have drawn media attention. The recent weekend outing offered another example of Affleck and Lopez maintaining ongoing connections with the children from their respective relationships while pursuing separate professional projects.
