The latest episode of Below Deck Mediterranean featured the return of charter guest Josef Rettman, who made a memorable impact during the season's second charter.
Rettman, who was on board with former MLB player Johnny Damon and his wife Michelle, quickly became a focal point of the episode titled "Guestzilla on Board." His behavior led to significant anxiety among the yacht crew, prompting concern even from Captain Sandy Yawn.
A notable confrontation occurred between Rettman and Bosun Nathan Gallagher. During Gallagher's watch on the bridge, Rettman entered and engaged in a drunken rant. Despite stating "I don’t like you, but I respect you," Rettman then challenged Gallagher to an arm wrestle, which Gallagher declined. Following this, Rettman shared personal details, including past financial struggles and a graphic account of a sexual encounter, recounting that "six girls [had] pee[d] on me at once."
Later, while Cooper was on watch, Rettman revealed that his father had passed away when he was 14. This moment of vulnerability was followed by an awkward silence before Rettman retired for the night.
The following morning, Rettman spoke positively with Captain Sandy about his interaction with Gallagher, describing it as a "heart-to-heart." His mood appeared to shift to optimism for the remainder of the charter, especially upon learning about a planned visit to an oyster farm, to which he quipped, "I’m recently-divorced. The world is my oyster."
As the charter concluded, Rettman asked the crew about the possibility of a romantic interest returning, a notion the reporting suggested was unlikely. Before departing, Rettman announced he would add $15,000 to the crew's tip. The charter concluded with a $50,000 tip for the crew, which Captain Sandy described as a reward for managing difficult guests, stating, "Yachting is a business. You’re always gonna have the Josefs. When they’re rude and obnoxious, you have to diffuse."
