A cherished White Castle restaurant in Queens, which had been a fixture for 90 years, has ceased operations, leading to poignant expressions of loss from the community.

The White Castle on 57th Avenue recently served its last sliders, marking the end of an era for many in the neighborhood. The closure has prompted emotional responses, with some locals lamenting the loss of a familiar and nostalgic gathering spot.

Karen Bartolo, a local resident, shared her sentiments with local news, expressing a mix of sadness and resignation. "What are you gonna do?" Bartolo said. "They're gonna build more condominiums here? It's just one of the last things that you wish they'd have stayed. But that's it, God bless their journey, and I'm gonna miss White Castle."

Bartolo also reflected on past memories associated with the establishment. "When there was the metal arena over there, going to see bands, we'd come here all drunk and silly and get our White Castle. Not making any trouble, just having fun," she recalled. "It's nostalgic, it's sad, but things change."
