The BBC issued an apology after Sharleen Spiteri, the lead singer of the band Texas, used profanity during a live performance at Radio 2 In The Park in Stirling, Scotland, on Saturday. The incident occurred during the band's set, which was being broadcast on BBC iPlayer.

During a pause in her performance, Spiteri, apparently reacting to the audience and the live broadcast, said she would have to modify her usual on-stage language. She then declared, "Do we want a bleep? Stirling do you really want a bleep? F*** this! Let's do it!" This was followed by an on-screen apology during the livestream that read, "You are watching Radio 2 In The Park Live. We apologise if you've been offended by anything in this stream."

BBC Radio 2 host Jo Whiley also offered an on-air apology, stating, "Of course, there was bad language for which we apologise." Co-host Vernon Kay added his apologies and remarked, "It's a bit too early for that! Sharleen was on one this morning!"

The festival featured performances from artists such as Simple Minds, Chaka Khan, and Bryan Adams. Texas, founded in 1986, comprises Spiteri, Johnny McElhone, Ally McErlaine, Eddie Campbell, Tony McGovern, and Cat Myers.
