The historic Bayeux Tapestry, a 70-meter (230-foot) embroidered cloth depicting the events of the Norman Conquest and the Battle of Hastings in 1066, is set to be exhibited at the British Museum in London starting September 10. The artwork, originally embroidered in England but kept in France for centuries, will be on loan until July 2027.

The decision to send the tapestry to the British Museum was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron in July 2025 during a state visit to the United Kingdom. This loan is intended to symbolize the strong partnership between France and the UK. The upcoming exhibition marks a significant opportunity for the public to view this iconic piece of history in London, offering a detailed visual narrative of a pivotal moment in English history.
