Joe Amabile, known for his appearances on "The Bachelorette" and "Bachelor in Paradise," has announced a recent brain tumor diagnosis. Amabile revealed in an Instagram video that a routine full-body scan uncovered a lesion in his brain, which further testing confirmed to be a glioma.
Amabile stated that the tumor is approximately blueberry-sized. He is scheduled to undergo a craniotomy in two weeks to remove the tumor for testing. "So I now need to get brain surgery [in two weeks] to get it removed and get it tested, and then we’re gonna go from there," Amabile said. "So it’s been a wild couple weeks. Definitely wasn’t expecting this."
He reflected on the unexpected nature of the diagnosis, saying, "I think it’s one of those things where you’re like, ‘Oh, something like this'll never happen to me,’ and here I am." He added that doctors have indicated the tumor is in its early stages and expressed hope for a full recovery.
Amabile, who first gained recognition as "Grocery Store Joe" on Becca Kufrin's season of "The Bachelorette" in 2018, later found lasting love on "Bachelor in Paradise" with Serena Pitt. The couple, one of Bachelor Nation's prominent success stories, met on Season 7 of the show, became engaged in 2021, and married in a courthouse ceremony in October 2022, followed by a larger celebration in September 2023.
