Atomix, the Korean fine-dining restaurant in Manhattan's NoMad neighborhood, was named No. 1 on the inaugural North America’s 50 Best Restaurants list, announced at a ceremony in Las Vegas earlier this week.

The ranking, created as a regional offshoot of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, places Atomix at No. 1 on the North America list and No. 12 on the global list. Atomix is a two-Michelin-starred restaurant known for its 12-course tasting menu priced at $395, presented on custom ceramic serveware. The restaurant has also been lauded with a James Beard Award for Outstanding Hospitality earlier this year.

"We are deeply honored to be recognized among so many inspiring restaurants," chef-owner Junghyun 'JP' Park said afterward in a written statement. "This motivates us to continue pushing ourselves and to share the depth and creativity within Korean cuisine with the world." Ellia Park added: "For us, hospitality has always been about creating spaces that feel warm, thoughtful, and forward-thinking."

Atomix opened in 2018, when Junghyun Park and Ellia Park launched a fine-dining project that helped propel contemporary Korean dining in New York. The chef-owners also run sister restaurant Atoboy, which celebrates its 10-year anniversary this year, and have since expanded with venues such as NARO and Seoul Salon. "As we look ahead to the next decade, we are grateful for our team and our guests who have supported us on this journey," Ellia Park said.

The win comes as the Parks prepare to celebrate a major milestone: the 10-year anniversary of Atoboy and the broader growth of their dining portfolio. The tasting menu at Atomix is $395 for 12 courses, and the restaurant has earned two Michelin stars and a 50 Best nod that underscores its growing influence on global dining.

The North America list also highlights significant momentum for New York’s dining scene. Alongside Atomix, twelve other New York restaurants earned spots on the list, including Le Bernardin, Le Veau d’Or, The Four Horsemen, Via Carota, Kono, Aska, Saga, Jungsik, Corima, César, Café Carmellini, and Penny. The regional award spotlights a mix of Michelin-starred fine dining and newer, trend-forward concepts that have helped redefine the city’s culinary map.

Canada led the list’s top five with Mon Lapin in Montreal, Restaurant Pearl Morissette near Toronto and Tanière3 in Quebec City, while Smyth in Chicago was the only other U.S. restaurant among the top five. The rest of the list reflects a broader North American mix of acclaimed eateries.

Industry observers say the awards reinforce the growing influence of Korean cuisine in North America and reflect the expanding reach of the World’s 50 Best network into regional rankings. The awards, while separate from the global list, often influence perceptions of culinary prestige and can help attract visitors to cities and neighborhoods that host leading restaurants.
