Ariana Grande has announced she is taking a break from public life, citing intense scrutiny over her weight as a factor. The pop star, 33, appears to be prioritizing her well-being during this downtime, having recently liked an Instagram post on the topic of "getting healthier."
The post, shared by psychotherapist and podcast host Terri Cole, stated: "Unfortunately, I can confirm that not everyone will like the healthier version of you. That's OK. Get healthier, anyway!"
Cole's message continued, "There are going to be people who celebrate the healthier version of you…and you might have those who miss the version of you that was stretched thin, keeping everyone else happy + comfortable." She urged readers to "Keep growing and prioritizing yourself regardless." The post concluded, "The people who are meant to be in your circle will love and appreciate your growth, not just the parts of you that make everything comfortable or convenient."
Grande 'liked' the upload without leaving a comment. Representatives for the singer have not yet responded to requests for comment.
Tour and Future Projects
Grande is currently in the midst of her Eternal Sunshine Tour and is scheduled to conclude the North American and United Kingdom legs next month. Earlier this week, her representatives announced she would be taking a "much-deserved break" from public-facing duties after the tour's end. This break includes her withdrawal from the West End revival of "Sunday in the Park with George," for which she was slated to star this fall.
During a recent Chicago concert, Grande told fans that she had long planned to take a break, making the decision "from a thoughtful and empowered place."
She is also slated to appear in the upcoming film "Focker-In-Law," scheduled for release in November. However, it remains unclear whether she will participate in promotional activities for the movie.
Concerns Over Well-being
A source previously told Page Six that Grande has been "overworked" and that the constant public scrutiny of her weight has taken a toll. Insiders have also expressed concerns to the Daily Mail, with one family insider close to the star stating that her inner circle believes she is "not well."
"We have asked her to take a break. Actually we've begged her, like a lot. A lot a lot," the insider told the Daily Mail. "Not like a day or two, but a break break. She is not well. She is anxious and unhappy. She doesn't sleep enough, doesn't eat enough."
