Joan Grande, mother of singer Ariana Grande, has voiced her admiration for her daughter following the announcement that the Grammy winner will be taking a break from public appearances. Joan Grande commented on her daughter's Instagram post featuring behind-the-scenes photos from the music video for "Petal," the titular track from her latest album released Friday.

"You are magnificent… and this video is incredible!! I love it and I love you more!!!" Joan Grande wrote in the comments section of the post, which included several images of Ariana from the music video set. The younger Grande, 33, captioned her post with a lyric from the song: "petal in the pavement …… ♡."

Ariana Grande's representative confirmed over the weekend that the singer will "be taking a step back from visibility" after her "Endless Sunshine" tour concludes next month. This decision comes in response to "endless public scrutiny," according to the statement. The representative emphasized that Grande aims to finish the tour on a high note, feeling "healthily and happily," before taking a "much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances."

The statement added, "This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much."

In addition to stepping away from public view, Grande has also withdrawn from the West End revival of "Sunday in the Park with George," scheduled for next summer. A spokesperson for the production confirmed their understanding and support for Grande's decision.

The singer's "Petal" music video has drawn attention on social media, with some expressing concern over Grande's appearance. Previously, Grande has spoken out about the impact of body-shaming, calling such criticism "really dangerous" in a 2024 interview and noting the difficulty of shielding herself from such commentary.
