Anya Taylor-Joy is featured in an ethereal spread for V Magazine, showcasing a collection of looks crafted entirely from paper. The photoshoot, which highlights white and light blue ensembles, includes a ruffled top and skirt that reveal the actress's midriff, as well as a striking light blue dress with a statement collar and an accompanying large headpiece. Photographer Nick Knight captured the images, with styling by Anna Trevelyan.
In an accompanying interview for the publication, conducted by her friend Miley Cyrus, Taylor-Joy spoke about her acting process. "It feels like less of a choice, more of an instinct," she said regarding her connection to characters. "My body figures it out before I do. I start sitting differently, speaking the words aloud in a new voice. I believe every character has things to teach you."
The actress, 30, also touched upon her marriage to musician Malcolm McRae. The couple married in New Orleans in April 2022. "I don't want to sound smug, but I love him so much," Taylor-Joy shared. "To have a best friend who goes through life with you – it has given me a sense of security that I didn't really ever dream about."
She added that her relationship provides a sense of security that emboldens her to take risks, noting, "I laugh, like, 90% of the time." McRae is the vocalist and multi-instrumentalist for the musical duo SRCHR and has had minor acting roles, including an appearance in "Daisy Jones & The Six" and a small part in Taylor-Joy's Apple TV series, "Lucky."
Taylor-Joy's role in "Lucky," where she plays a con artist on the run, also marked her first producing credit. Reflecting on the experience, she stated, "I've always been interested in not just why something works, but how it works. I felt like I'd been doing it [producing] for a while. It just hadn't been part of my job title."
Regarding leadership, she learned that "being a leader is about being unflappable. It's not your job to freak out, it's your job to find solutions and soothe everybody else." She also recalled her parents' advice: her father's motto that "the harder I work, the luckier I'll get," and her mother's encouragement to "be myself."
