Actor Anthony Michael Hall, known for his roles in 1980s John Hughes films like "The Breakfast Club" and "Sixteen Candles," has spoken about his struggles with addiction and his journey through the challenges of Hollywood. Hall, now 58, described the industry as "toxic" but credited "having a thick skin" and persistence for his ability to continue his career.

Hall's early career saw him rise to fame as part of the "Brat Pack," a group of young actors prominent in the 1980s. His portrayal of Brian Johnson in "The Breakfast Club" in 1985, a character grappling with immense family pressure, garnered significant attention. However, his burgeoning career was impacted by a drinking problem, leading to a two-year hiatus after starring in the 1988 film "Johnny Be Good."

He confessed to drinking "vodka by the quart every day" and engaging in altercations during the height of his addiction. After achieving sobriety, Hall made a comeback, appearing in films such as Tim Burton's "Edward Scissorhands" in 1990, "Six Degrees of Separation," and "Pirates of Silicon Valley," where he famously played Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

Hall also ventured into directing with the 1994 film "Hail Caesar" and explored a music career as the lead singer for the band Hall of Mirrors. He later established his own production company, AMH Entertainment.

More recent credits include "The Dead Zone," "War Machine," "The Goldbergs," "Halloween Kills," "Reacher," and "Wednesday." Despite his career resurgence, Hall has faced public scrutiny, including a 2016 arrest for felony assault, to which he pleaded no contest. He also had a public outburst at a hotel pool in 2020, for which he later apologized.

In 2020, Hall married actress Lucia Oskerova, and they welcomed a son in June 2023. Reflecting on his experiences, Hall emphasized the importance of humility, focus, and an openness to new opportunities. "There’s no guarantee of anything in this business, and it’s a tough business, but it’s really great business, so I’m very fortunate," he told Fox News Digital. "Staying open to new opportunities, just being cool with it and having fun."
