Ant and Dec are set to launch a new "I'm A Celebrity" spin-off series titled "Wild Frontier" next year, featuring a revamped format with celebrity duos navigating challenges in the Canadian wilderness. The presenters have teased that the show will incorporate "surprise twists" and "danger," hinting at a more intense experience for the participants.
In a promotional video shared on the "I'm A Celebrity" Instagram account, Ant and Dec revealed that contestants must enter, compete, and leave as pairs. "Out here in the Canadian wilderness, danger lurks around every corner," Ant stated, humorously adding, "One word...bears!"
The new series, which will consist of 15 episodes, is scheduled to air early next year. Unlike previous seasons, "Wild Frontier" will conclude with a live grand final from London, allowing viewers to vote for their winning duo. This announcement has drawn some fan skepticism, with many recalling the chaotic live final of "I'm A Celebrity South Africa," which involved a public altercation between contestants Adam Thomas, Jimmy Bullard, and David Haye.
Fans voiced their concerns in online comments, with one user writing, "The last live final wasn’t enough for you boys, clearly." Another expressed hope that the new live final would avoid the issues seen previously, stating, "Hope it's not a live final in England like the last one."
The reported line-up for "The Wild Frontier" includes husband-and-wife duos Rio and Kate Ferdinand, and Venezuela Fury and Noah Price. Other pairings expected to compete are brother and sister Louise Redknapp and Joe Nurding, former "Dancing On Ice" partners Christopher Dean and Karen Barber, boyband members Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy, and social media personalities Paul Olima and Jeremy Lynch.
The original "I'm A Celebrity" series from Australia is expected to return later this year, with "Wild Frontier" following in the subsequent year.
